The reason I kept taking it was because I was going through a really bad time in my life with my dad dying so the alternative was worse. That’s not to take away from Zoloft it does work and most people don’t experience anything like that. I’m talking going to bed at 10:00 pm and laying in bed trying to fall asleep every night until like 4-5 am and then waking up at 8 am. Also, that side effect seems super uncommon whenever I do research on it it says it can cause insomnia but if you take it in the mornings like I did and gave it a few months it is supposed to go away for me it got worse. It seems super weird to me because my mom took it for years without any issues same with my sister. When I stopped taking it all my sleep problems vanished completely. I have had sleep problems for my entire life but nothing like that. I tried melatonin, edibles, trazodone, nothing helped I would take 10-20 mg of melatonin and still not be able to fall asleep and when I would sleep I literally never dreamt ever. I would only sleep for 4 hours every night or less. I had the exact same thing I was on Zoloft for like 6 months. You could try having a couple slices of cheese before bed.Īlso try switching to the morning and see if it makes a difference. ![]() There's certain foods that supposedly help with sleep, like cheese. No screens before bed, dark room, keep the temperature a little cooler than you have it during the day (optimal sleeping temperature is around 69f), try a white noise machine (I like the sound of rain and thunder) or ill listen to an audio book. Other than talking to your doctor about medical solutions or therapy, look up good sleep hygiene. The zoloft is definitely to blame but probably not 100% of the blame. Might try Lunesta (a sleep med) or trazedone (an anti depressant that makes you very drowsy) and then start some CBT and better sleep hygiene practices. Talking to my doctor soon, I have ambien but thats a temporary solution and doesn't help you stay asleep. So that tells me I am capable of sleep and it might partially be anxiety (about sleep) that's preventing me from falling and staying asleep. On the weekends I'll have unplanned naps. I'd say 6 out of 7 days of the week I get a terrible sleep. ![]()
